Bill Gates Early life

In Seattle, Washington, he was born William Henry Gates III on October 28, 1955. Kristianne and Libby, his older sister and younger sister grew up in a middle-class family. Bill Gates Sr., their father, was a promising law student when he met Mary Maxwell, his future wife. A prominent student leader and an outgoing athlete at the University of Washington, her student affairs and leadership involvement were exceptional.

All three Gates children were encouraged to be competitive and strive for excellence in a warm and close family environment. Gates showed early signs of competitiveness when he coordinated family athletic games at their summer house on Puget Sound. Playing board games (his favorite was Risk) and Monopoly was also a favorite pastime.

Bill Gates Education

During that time, Bill Gates began his elementary education at Lakeside School. Thirteen was his age. Since childhood, he has been fascinated by computer programming. He even left Maths classes because he was so interested.

During school, he wrote the “Tic-tac-toe” program in Basic Computer Language.

Paul Allen, Ric Weiland, and Kent Evans have all been banned from using too many computers. The American government at that time prohibited children from using computers for long periods.

The four students were given the task of removing deficiencies in CCC’s software from their school computers, and in exchange, they were given extra computer time.

During his visit to the CCC office, Bill studied source code from various programs. Until the late 1970s, when the company closed, this work continued.

If Gates had been 15 years old at the time, he might have noticed his talents. A Cobol payroll program was written by four students working in the CCC in the same year. He received a royalty, plus any time he wanted to spend on the computer instead of this work.

Besides this, he was enrolled at a young age in the Student Schedule Program.

Bill Gates Net Worth

Gates knows how to make the most of money that large. A Washington estate worth $125 million, a private plane, and a luxury car collection are just a few of the indulgences he enjoys. He and his wife Melinda have previously claimed it’s unfair they’re so wealthy.

Their Gates Foundation often donates their billions to charity instead of spending money on themselves. The Giving Pledge – which they launched in 2010 – also commits them to give away most of their fortune.

Bill Gates and Microsoft

Microsoft was founded by Gates and Allen in 1975, combining the terms “microcomputer” and “software” (they dropped the hyphen by 1979). In the early 1980s, Altair computers ran BASIC software from the company.

It wasn’t all plain sailing at the beginning. While Microsoft’s BASIC software program for Altair computers generated fees and royalties, it did not match their overhead costs. Based on Gates ‘ later report, approximately 10 percent of those who used BASIC on the Altair computer paid for it.

Microsoft’s BASIC software was popular with computer hobbyists, who obtained pre-market copies and reproduced and distributed them freely. In the early 1980s, many computer enthusiasts were not motivated by monetary gain. It was easy for them to share software with friends and computer enthusiasts because it could be reproduced and distributed efficiently. In Gates’ view, things were different. For him, free software distribution was stealing, especially when it involved software intended for sale.
